Targeting transdifferentiated hepatic stellate cells and monitoring the hepatic fibrogenic process by means of IGF2R-specific peptides designed in silico

چکیده

In silico designed peptides showed high binding affinity towards activated human hepatic stellate cells, offering new strategies to target insulin-like growth factor 2 receptor in fibrotic liver and suggesting a potential for noninvasive diagnosis.

Oxymatrine liposome attenuates hepatic fibrosis via targeting hepatic stellate cells.

AIM To investigate the potential mechanism of Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) peptide-labeled liposome loading oxymatrine (OM) therapy in CCl₄-induced hepatic fibrosis in rats. METHODS We constructed a rat model of CCl₄-induced hepatic fibrosis and treated the rats with different formulations of OM. To evaluate the antifibrotic effect of OM, we detected levels of alkaline phosphatase, hepatic histopatholog...

Periostin down-regulation attenuates the pro-fibrogenic response of hepatic stellate cells induced by TGF-β1

Liver fibrosis is characterized by an exacerbated accumulation of deposition of the extracellular matrix (ECM), and the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSC) plays a pivotal role in the development of liver fibrosis. Periostin has been shown to regulate cell adhesion, proliferation, migration and apoptosis; however, the involvement of periostin and its role in transforming growth factor (T...

Elevated mitochondrial activity distinguishes fibrogenic hepatic stellate cells and sensitizes for selective inhibition by mitotropic doxorubicin

Activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) is an integral component of the wound-healing process in liver injury/inflammation. However, uncontrolled activation of HSCs leads to constant secretion of collagen-rich extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins, resulting in liver fibrosis. The enhanced ECM synthesis/secretion demands an uninterrupted supply of intracellular energy; however, there is a pau...

MicroRNA-9 limits hepatic fibrosis by suppressing the activation and proliferation of hepatic stellate cells by directly targeting MRP1/ABCC1.

Liver fibrosis is a chronic liver disease characterized by the proliferation and activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and excessive deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM). Research suggests that microRNAs (miRNAs) are a new type of regulator of liver fibrosis. In the present study, we investigated the role of microRNA-9 (miR-9) in the process of liver fibrosis, as well as the underlyin...

Targeting activated hepatic stellate cells (aHSCs) for liver fibrosis imaging

Following injurious stimuli, quiescent hepatic stellate cells (qHSCs) transdifferentiate into activated HSCs (aHSCs). aHSCs play pivotal roles in the onset and progression of liver fibrosis. Therefore, molecular imaging of aHSCs in liver fibrosis will facilitate early diagnosis, prognosis prediction, and instruction and evaluation of aHSC-targeted treatment. To date, several receptors, such as ...
